Tips to Prepare Your House for Showings

1. Remove any clutter within the house, but not to the point where the house looks empty.

2. Put away small appliances, cleaners, mail, newspapers, toys etc.

3. Make sure all the windows are clean.

4. Set the dining room table to enhance the visual appeal of the room.

5. Paint walls neutral colors (white, off-white, beige). Avoid unusual colors, which may not appeal to everyone’s taste or match everyone’s furniture. Avoid red or gold wallpaper.

6. Take down wild posters in teenagers’ rooms.

7. Eliminate bad odors, for example from pets.

8. Trim bushes; keep the grass cut and the yard free of debris.

9. Make sure the entrance to the home is appealing. Remove any clutter (brooms, rakes, toys, etc.). Use a new doormat and potted flowers.

10. Clean out closets to make them look spacious.
